Few individuals have symbolized the South in popular culture as directly and indelibly as Charlie Daniels. Charlie Daniels is partly Western and partly Southern. Born in New Bern, North Carolina, Lieutenant General William G. “Jerry” Boykins is currently the Wheat Professor of Leadership Studies at Hampden-Sydney College in Farmville, Virgina. Previously, LTG Boykin served at the Pentagon as Deputy Undersecretary of Defense for Intelligence, overseeing the gathering and exploitation of intelligence during the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq.

LTG Boykin ultimately served as the Commander of the US Army Special Forces Command and as the Commandant of the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School at Fort Bragg, North Carolina. LTG Boykin also served six years in Intelligence (two with the CIA) and was a member of the National Security Policy Coordinating Committee for Terrorism and Coordinating Sub-Group for Homeland Security. His memoir, Never Surrender: A Soldier’s Journey to the Crossroads of Faith and Freedom, was released in 2008. He has also authored two novels, Danger Close and Kiloton Threat. Philosophy of Time

Friends and Fellow Americans I am sure that most of you share concerns for the future of our nation. Not that I have six beautiful grand children, my concerns for the direction our leaders are headed have become a matter of critical concern for me and my wife Ashley. As I study the history of founding of this nation, I have become more convinced that the founding fathers of this nation were men of tremendous courage and a sacrificial nature. Many of the leaders in our nation today are just opposite. They have failed to show courage and seem to expect the people of America to simply support their personal agendas without questioning their motives, America is in serious jeopardy and “We the People” must get involved in order to preserve “The American Dream” and to protect our Constitution. Sadly, there are many in America today that want to make the nation more like the European continent, which is currently failing financially and socially because of its socialist trends. Socialism has never succeeded, yet many still believe in it. We must protect America from this Socialist movement which wants to destroy our “Free Market” system. We must reject the notion that the Federal Government is responsible for our future or that we are “entitled” to anything other than OPPORTUNITY. It is the responsibility of each American to help a neighbor–in–need, but the politicians in Washington, DC have created an attitude of entitlements that must be stopped. We need to emphasize hard work and the entrepreneurial spirit rather that redistribution of wealth.

The issues facing America today are varied and complex. They include the following: (1) Growing debt that mortgages our future and threatens an economic collapse. (2) Insecure borders that allows millions of illegal immigrants to enter nation and to leverage our social services, health care, schools, and prisons. Many of the immigrants coming across our borders are know to be associated with terrorists groups. (3) A growing encroachment of Shariah (Islamic Law) in our US Court system. A recent study that showed that 27 court cases in America were adjudicated according to Shariah. Article VI of the US constitution prohibits the use of religious or foreign law. (4) Dependence on imported oil which leaves America vulnerable to the geopolitics of unstable regions on the world like the Mid-East and Africa. (5) Growing influence of the Anti-Christian and Anti-Semitic elements in America while the influence of the church and synagogue declines. As a result, morals in America are in decline as well. (6) Growing influence of the Environmentalists movements hindering businesses and energy independence. Why does America depend on energy from nations who want to destroy us rather than becoming energy independent? (7) Increasing encroachment of the government on American civil liberties and individual freedoms. The abuse of airline passengers by TSA is a prime example The efforts to pass “Cap and Trade” legislation reflect an effort to establish more government control of many aspects of the lives of American citizens. (8) A declining education system that alters the history of the US, removing the history of the influence of faith in the building and sustainment of America. (9) An increasing trend to “Globalization”, including global governance, Any coalition of nations for economic unity, (ex: The EU), requires the forfeiture of elements of the constitutions of member nations and adherence to legislation passed by the coalition. (10) Declining morals in America resulting to growth of same-sex marriage, abortion, pornography, disintegration of the family, and corruption at many levels. Working together with each person doing his or her part, we can change the direction of the nation. It begins with exercising our rights as a free citizenry. The most fundamental of those rights is that of the ballot. Americans must vote and support candidates. I would not advocate for the candidates nor encourage that you vote for one party over another as both parties have failed in their basic responsibilities. The key is that each of us vote our conscience and our values.

The Randy Weaver family has disappeared down an Orwellian memory hole for most Americans. Their story doesn’t offer occasion for waving flags and singing patriotic songs. Despite the tragedy that befell them, Randy Weaver is still vilified by major media for, “crimes and strange beliefs”, in particular distrust of government.

Randy Weaver, an ex Special Forces Sergeant, had reason to distrust his government when in 1991, an agent of the U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (BATF) entrapped Randy by hiring him to cut off a shotgun. Arrested, BATF tried to force him to inform on “subversive organizations”…he refused. For the next 18 months, the U.S. Marshal Service spied on the Weavers’ isolated mountain cabin, where Randy lived with his wife Vicki, son Sammy (14), daughters Sara (16), Rachel (10), and Elisheba (10 months), and a young friend named Kevin Harris.

The morning of August 21, 1992, six government marksmen wearing ski masks and camouflage, armed with automatic weapons equipped with silencers, crept up on the Weaver cabin without warning or warrant and without identifying themselves. First they shot and killed the family’s yellow Labrador, Striker, who had been barking at the intruders. When young Sammy witnessed this, he fired a .223 mini-14 in the direction from which the shots had come, then ran back toward the cabin. Agents fired at Sammy, his arm blown off , the youngster got back to his feet and began running again. Moments later, a second automatic weapon burst caught Sammy in the back, killing him.

Within 24 hours, one Deputy U.S. Marshal was dead and some 500 federal agents arrived at the scene, along with helicopters, “HUMVEES,” armoured transport vehicles and personnel carriers. The Weavers’ dead dog was left in the road, repeatedly run over by government vehicles.

On the afternoon of August 22, Vicki Weaver, standing at the cabin’s door, armed with nothing more lethal than baby Elisheba, was shot in the head by a sniper…while nursing. Kneeling on the floor, still clutching her baby, Vicki bled to death. This a carefully timed “two shot” whereby Kevin Harris was also hit. Shortly afterward Randy too was shot. Nine days later, Weaver, a badly wounded Harris, and the surviving kids surrendered to Federal agents.

Eleven months in trial, a jury in Boise, Idaho, acquitted Weaver and Harris of murder and conspiracy charges stemming from the government assault. The trial resulted in a not-guilty verdict. Weaver turned to his lawyer, Gerry Spence saying, “I’ve learned something about the system …it works.”

In 1995, Congressional hearings into the Weaver tragedy revealed a cover-up and gross negligence by government officials, yet, there was never prosecution of the killers of Sammy and Vicki Weaver.

Author, speaker and former sheriff Richard Mack served in a wide variety of roles over the course of his nearly twenty-year career in law enforcement, which began in Provo, Utah. He started as a parking enforcement cadet and was soon promoted to corporal, sergeant, and then detective. In 1988 Mack returned to Graham County, AZ and was elected as sheriff, where he served until 1997.

A graduate of the FBI National Academy, some of Mack’s positions include: patrol officer, hostage negotiator, youth officer, school resource officer, communications supervisor, undercover narcotics agent and DARE instructor.

Carl Pittman was born, August5, 1963 in Fulshear, Texas, with the help of a mid-wife in the very same house in which he was to grow up. This little two room shack was the home where Carl experienced some very humbling circusmtances, and it also helped Carl forge a determination to excel in life. With the death of his father in 1970 Carl and his two sisters were raised by their mother. It was a challenging time for the family, with no running water in the little tin roofed house until 1978, and no air conditioniing – just a wood burning stove and couple of window fans. Carl became all too acquainted with many of the hard realities of life. The annual crops (be it cotton or peacans) were the work of the day for Carl and his family. Having to put schools clothes on lay-away was just the way it was. Seeing his mother, with only a third grade education, toil so hard to suport the family motivated Carl to succeed and to hope that one day he could rise to a position where he could take care of her in a manner worthy of devotion she had given him, despite their economic trials. That however, was not God’s plan and Carl lost his mother in August of 1985.

Carl had joined the United States Marine Corps in July 1981 as an Infantry Marine serving with the 3rd Battalion, 5th Marines of the 1st Marine Division at Camp Pendleton, California. After being honorably discharged in July of 1985 he joined the San Diego Police Department and graduated from the 103rd Regional San Diego Police Academy on November 11, 1985. Carl completed the one year period to obtain his P.O.S.T Certificate as a commissioned peace officer and then joined the National City Police Department in August of 1986. National City, California is approximatedly 7 square miles and is located immediately south of the city of San Diego on the Interstate 5 corridor and approximately 14 miles north of the busiest international border in the world at Tijuana, Mexico. Carl’s small town background served him well, and normal duties as a patrol officer brought plenty of experience in dealing with illegal immigrants and the United States Border Patrol.

Carl’s experience with the local black and Hispanic gangs and the Mexican Mafia “La Eme” led im to become a California Superior Court qualified expert on gangs and narcotics. Carl was on the fast track with the NCPD and after only two years on patrol, he applied and was accepted into the Traffic Division and became certified as a Traffic Accident Investigator. Carl then applied for and was accepted as Motorcycle Traffic Enforcement Officer. In 1990 Carl was reassigned as a detective to a Federal Task Force; Jurisdictions Unified for Drug & Gang Enforcement (J.U.D.G.E). This task force was charged with monitoring and enforcement actions against the “worst of the worst” paroled drug and gang offenders and assisted with investigations into gang-related homicides in San Diego County, California. Carl also worked undercover in narcotics stings. While in the assignment Carl tested and was promoted in just five years to the rank of Sergeant in1991 and returned from the task force to NCPD and assumed his new duties as a patrol sergeant and assistant watch commander. On the ground in Southern California as a patrol sergeant during the Los Angeles Rodney King riots, Carl witnessed upfront this single event which changed the world of law enforcement forever.

A business opportunity in mortgage banking convnced Carl that a career change was in order. Carl was licensed as a Real Estate/Mortgage Loan Officer in 1993 and later as a Real Estate and Mortgage Broker in late 1996 and formed The Pittman Company in early 1997. Carl’s common sense approach to business and his ability to bring people and transactions together created a formidable company which sold and financed tens of millions of dollars in real estate.

However, Carl never forgot his roots as native Texan and his love of law enforcement and wanted to come home. In early 2001 Carl became licensed as a Texas Real Estate Broker. He also passed the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement(TCLEOSE) and was licensed as a Texas peace officer. In July of 2001 Carl left San Diego and moved home to Katy, Texas and joined the Harris County Sheriff’s Office on August 6, 2001. Carl holds a TCLEOSE Master Peace Officer Certification.

Carl’s career with the Harris County Sheriff’s office has been fulfilling and has allowed him to work in the Detentions Bureau of both of the Harris County Sheriff jail locations, the Human Resources Bureau as a Background Investigator and as an additional responsibility, was placed in charge of all new hire orientation during his time in Human Resources. In mid 2004 Carl was assigned to the Internal Affairs Division of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office. Carl has, since September 2007, been assigned to the Criminal Investigations Bureau as a Burglary and Theft Investigator. “I have worked with some of the most dedicated men and women in law enforcement on the HCSO and believe that the experience needed to build and experienced, competent command staff from within is presently on staff.”

Carl has an in depth knowledge and passion for the profession of law enforcement. In the early nineties, as a result of attending the United Nations Conference on Population and Development in Cairo, Egypt, Joan Veon received her “wake up call”, finding there was more going on at the global level than most Americans knew, understood, or were being told.

Kamal Saleem was born to a large Sunni Muslim family in the heart of the Middle East. Every Friday evening, I play co-host to the irrepressible Howard Houchen. We can be heard live every Friday from 6-8 CST on the Logos Radio Network Howard and I strive to make sense of the insensible and discover how each of us can play a part in preserving our freedom. Kitty Werthmann, 89, is president of the South Dakota Eagle Forum. She has been a lobbyist in the SD state legislature on family issues. She has lived in the United States since 1950 and has been a U.S. citizen for 52 years. Her conservative ideals have helped South Dakota remain a proudly patriotic state that holds true to the Constitution.

Kitty grew up in Austria under the Nazi regime of Adolf Hitler throughout WWII. She was an eye witness to the changes in Austria’s work force, economy, value system, financial status and industry.

She now travels throughout America, speaking for various groups including Eagle Forum, Citizens for Liberty, colleges and business-related events. Michael Badnarik was born in Hammond, Indiana in 1954. His parents, John and Elaine, built their house when Michael was two, and they still live there today. Michael has two younger brothers, Chuck and Steve.

Michael joined the Cub Scouts when he was six and remained a Scout for twelve years. As an adult he volunteered as a Scoutmaster for ten years. He still adheres strongly to the same moral code he learned as a boy and the Scout motto: “Be Prepared.”

While attending Indiana University, Michael was Red Cross Advanced First Aid instructor, CPR instructor, and Water Safety Instructor trainer. He has also been a certified scuba and skydiving instructor and has worked professionally as a computer programmer and technical trainer for most of his career.

Michael has worked in the nuclear power industry for twelve years, eventually writing software for a nuclear control room simulator. Eventually he moved to California to write simulation software for the Stealth Bomber. While working for a software company in Austin, Texas, he travelled frequently to England, Canada, and Australia as part of his duties.

In 2004 at the urging of several close friends, Michael began a campaign for President of the United States and subsequently won the Libertarian Party’s nomination. In 2006 he ran a congressional campaign and raised $400,000 which was ten times more than his Democratic opponent. He also had a popular internet radio program for two years, and spent eighteen years working as a cowboy on a cattle ranch.

It is his sincere hope that he can use his communication skills to convince the general public that most of what our government does is unconstitutional. It is time for us to relearn the principles that made our country great and Michael is just the person who can do it. 1955 – 2015

Michael Adam was a Christian, a husband, a father of five young daughters, a Central Texas cattle rancher, a former Army Scout/LRRP Ranger, co-owner of a self defense shooting company, and a Master Rifle Instructor, and Board Member of The Appleseed Project.
